Good morning from just outside Trenton, New Jersey, near the Pennsylvania line - not far from where George Washington famously crossed the Delaware River.
Near that spot is where Vice President Kamala Harris made a plea yesterday for disaffected Republican voters to support her campaign.
As I told my colleague A Martinez on NPR’s Up First and Morning Edition this morning, Harris and her allies have been reaching out to Republicans who are less-than-enthusiastic about Trump - who still make up a sliver of the party - by touting dozens of endorsements from high-profile Republican officials and leaders.

For a closer look at where these efforts stand a few weeks before the election, here’s my reporting from Montgomery County - another key “collar county” in suburban Philadelphia - which aired on All Things Considered Tuesday night.

EVENTS IN NYC, PHILLY:
Next, I’m off to New York for an event hosted by NYU’s Center for Religion and Media tonight (Thursday) at 6 PM. I’ll be discussing (and signing copies of) The Exvangelicals, and the 2024 election.
Tomorrow afternoon (Friday) at 3 PM, I’ll join a panel of journalists at the University of Pennsylvania for a conversation about the state of 2024 campaign.
If you’re in or near either of those cities, I’d love to see you!
And one more thing - I’m thrilled and honored to share that Publishers Weekly has named The Exvangelicals to its list of “20 Books Our Editors Don’t Want You to Miss This Year”!
Available here or at your local bookseller.
Keep up the solid work and congrats with the continued success of your book!!
