How was your Easter/Passover/Ramadan?
Mine was fine except for the fact that I was 10 minutes from the synagogue on Friday, where my husband and I were planning to attend a service in honor of his father’s yahrzeit - a remembrance surrounding the anniversary of his death - when THE DECISION came down in Texas.
Because that’s how news is.
The judge, a Trump appointee, sided with anti-abortion groups challenging the FDA approval of mifepristone, has been on the market for more than 20 years and is used in most medication abortions in the United States. We don’t know exactly what it means yet, but the Biden administration is appealing, and this is shaping up to be a very significant week for abortion access in the United States.
Greg turned the car around, I got on the phone with a brilliant producer at All Things Considered, and within about an hour I was live on the air with the news.
In between phone calls and edits and radio hits we somehow squeezed in a belated Passover Seder with my husband’s family, including our former spouses and their partners, and a bunch of our mutual/shared kids. It was really special, and I felt so fortunate, in so many ways.
But also vaguely incoherent because I’d been up since a little after 3 a.m. working.
And now it’s Spring Break for my kids - because of course it is!
So we’re doing fun things like researching the FDA approval process and tidying up the house.
The youngest got to wash the dog.
Which he did willingly, using one of our towels from the newest, nicest towel set.
Naturally.
The dog is clean but the good towels are dirty
So happy you were able to celebrate with family and friends. I truly appreciate your tireless work on this front. It feels like our country is trying to wrench us back to the middle ages sometime.
Keep up the great work! BTW towels can be replaced. Kids that pitch in to help are a blessing!
Memorable day for you, Sarah!
