Almost two years ago, my mom died from mental illness. I grew up in a conservative evangelical home, too - Christian school and all. Even “Christian Rock” was frowned upon. I discovered U2 in my 30s, and I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For became important to me. When my mom died, the song took on even more meaning, and I quoted much of it at her funeral - surrounded by evangelicals. The new album Songs of Surrender have been my counselor in the couple years since.
