I love seeing that your sense of humor is intact. I also have attempted to repair PTSD with cookies (and brownies) and wine; it can be part of the process. I also love the visual of your blended and complex family (made up of EIGHT?? parents) offering care, presence and vigil in the hospital. How amazing to have such a well-populated village to hold you and your boy. 💙

(I’m Dan Aleckson’s spouse. Y’all knew each other at TIU.)

Having experienced a vehicular accident myself, I know this pain and trauma well. I also know well just how meaningful that love and support (and cookies!) are. My heart goes out to you all.

We are SO grateful for all the support you are getting and the medical system. A big reason we stay where we are is for proximity of UCSF. Continue to surround yourself with people who love you. Things could have been so much worse. We’re so glad you’re on the mend.

Thank you for sharing this, Sarah. I think about you often and continue to send love. Your community is larger than you know. And, BTW, that dress looks great ... and your beauty shines through, despite everything you're processing. 🙏❤️

Thank you for sharing your story. The worst and unexpected experiences help to shape our views — especially so important for a journalist. You already knew it, but now it’s reinforced what is important to you: your family and your community. Stay strong! -Richie
