Yuuuup. I was not allowed Barbies, with the stated reason being they created unrealistic expectations around body image--but totally had the Heart Family (despite Mrs. Heart being shaped exactly like Barbie).
We had the Heart Family! If you really want to be weirded out, read the book "Turmoil in the Toybox." We had friends who burned their toys in the backyard (with the kids watching) because of that book.
We were talking about the Heart family on the way back from seeing Barbie (but didn’t remember what the name).
