In a world that's increasingly becoming online, doing jobs that frequently require staring at a screen all day, the importance of human interaction cannot be overstated. I too had a weekend full of human interaction and feel restored and refreshed from it!
I am not a sports person either. I have always found enjoyment from the arts (theatre, art museums, playing the piano, listening to good music, literature, etc.) and make a point to spend even more time doing so now.
I also have been getting involved with a local Red Wine and Blue group and Indivisible group. I live in a very red area so this is crucial for not feeling so isolated!
Checking in with those around me who are considered more vulnerable has also been helpful!
"My beat these days is the intersection of politics and culture. If you have ideas, send them my way."
Honestly, the wrecking ball approach to "efficiency" [a cover for further self-enrichment] is providing a stream of events that are wrecking everything I have valued in American culture [daily American life]. At 78, I cry a lot now. For my children and grandchildren and the core values I thought we all agreed on. Your 1st 4 ideas make sense for you (and me, although I don't drink coffee. Chocolate bars work.).
Pre-gaming your coffee is a wise move. I sometimes wish I had a cup of coffee before I made my coffee. It would prevent fun experiences like "you have to press the start button" and "it works better if you pour the water into the machine."
“You will work in heaven” is absolutely hilarious. She must have read “The Protestant Work Ethic and the ‘Sprit’ of Capitalism” like I’m guessing many of my profs did.
